Catnip toy craft kits
$20 each
After 18 months of selling these incredibly popular cat toys, I wondered if others would like to have a go at making them too.
I figure there’s probably a good crossover between people who love to craft, and people who own cats. So over summer 2025-6, I worked on coming up with a DIY option.
Each kit makes four Fluffy Balls and contains:
-
10g (total) of New Zealand Corriedale wool in four different colours (exact colours subject to availability).
-
2g of new-season Kat’s Nip.
-
One felting needle.
-
Written instructions and tips, plus access exclusive step-by-step video instructions hosted online.
Each ball takes me about 15-20 minutes to create, but I make dozens of them month after month.
You should expect your first one to take up to an hour or two, but practice makes perfect, and you’ll be faster by your fourth.
As well as making regular Fluffy Balls, you’ll also learn how to:
Make multi-coloured balls—add your own personality and make something unique. Tips and video to show you how to make multi-coloured balls.
Repair damaged Fluffy Balls—instructions and video for repairing Fluffy Ball cat toys.
Important notes:
Felting needles are very sharp. This kit is designed for people aged 12 and up. I provide some safety instructions, but most needle-felters poke themselves, and it does hurt.
Not included:
If you suffer stiffness in your hands or arms, you may need to invest in a handle for your felting needle to prevent pain. Needles are small and skinny, so if grip is an issue for you, I strongly recommend this.
A felting mat or pad is not provided in this kit to keep them affordable and easy to post, and because they’re not strictly required; but may be helpful for younger felters.
Additional crafting supplies can be purchased at your local craft store, or via Felting 4 Fun.
