I hate to do this to you, but the tl;dr version is postage has gone up. From 12 May 2026, new postage rates are:
- $6.50 flat rate, NZ wide
- $13 for Rural Delivery
It sucks. But I’ve been absorbing a small part of the postage fees for at least a year now. But they’ve recently risen two months in a row thanks to fuel surcharges.
It’s a hard cost that I do not control and which I have to pay to get your goods to you. A hard cost which is increasing in price on a monthly basis at the moment.
I would not be increasing it if this hadn’t become unsustainable. I’m sorry I couldn’t give you more warning, but I can’t eat that cost on a flood of orders either.
Kat’s Nip is a micro-business selling hand-crafted products. Pack sizes are designed to fit into the smallest-possible mailer to get them to you as cheaply as possible. But I simply do not sell the volume of goods required to secure lower postage rates. I have to pay this cost every time someone makes an order.
Over the years I’ve made several improvements to the dispatch end of the business. Te speed and quality of the delivery has improved dramatically. Many customers now see their orders overnight. A change of supplier last year has helped hold the postage rate lower for longer too.
If you buy more and need a bigger bag, I do not charge extra for that. I will continue to absorb that cost on larger orders. So there is still value in bulk-ordering. The next sale is slated for early August if you’d like
If the surcharge is removed and the cost goes back down, I will adjust it down again. But for now, that’s what it is.
